Calaguas is a group of islands in the Southern Philippines, Province of Camarines Norte. It includes the islands of Tinaga, the biggest island where Mahabang Buhangin Beach (Long Beach) is located, Guintinua Island, Maculabo Island, as well as several other minor islands.

Getting there:

By Land - From Manila (Pasay or Cubao) Take bus to Paracale, Vinzons or Daet, 8 hrs trip.

Naga (Pili) is the nearest airport with daily flights to and from Manila, 45mins. Then take bus or aircon van to Daet, 2hrs. Aircon van to Paracale - 45mins.

To the Island - Take motor boat (rent - no regular trip) direct to Mahabang Buhangin Beach (Long Beach) @ Tinaga Island, Calaguas. There is no electricity in the island, no stores, no drinking water, so be prepared. You can stay for the whole day or camp overnight. The island is safe. Boat ride to Tinaga Island from Paracale is about 2 hours. Rent is 3k (2013 rate) round trip. If you plan to camp overnight, boat will come back for you the following day. Caretakers in the island have their own generators for the night (not whole night). Camping fee is 100. Best time to camp is during full moon. Only Smart signal is working in the island.


Best time to come is of course during summer, but the island is available for the whole year. It does not leave it's place anyway. Just don't go when there is storm as you or the boat may not survive the 10 foot waves.
